About

Biochemist by day.  Knitter by early morning, evening, night, weekends, in the car (but not while driving).  You get the picture.  I also enjoy cocktails made by my wonderful husband M.

  • You went to Macalester?? I was just reading comments for Chaos’ & Mayhem’s maman — *I* went to Macalester! Of course, it was back when we all used wax tablets and stylii, but still… I have a very diverse and delicious collection of memories about my Mac days. When were you there? (I went from ’61-’63…then diverted my education to motherhood {sigh})

  • Your photos are so beautifully lit! I find your knitting very inspiring – maybe you can turn me away from a summer of pulpy reading to something more productive (and much more fun!).

  • My name is Andrew and I work for Save the Children’s newborn and child survival campaign, Good Goes as the social media specialist. I just discovered your blog and wanted to tell you about our Caps for Good initiative that launched on August 29th in partnership with the Warm Up America! Foundation.

We are looking for talented knitters and crocheters who would like to contribute a small handmade cap to help keep low-birthweight babies warm during their first few weeks of life. These caps will be delivered through Save the Children’s newborn health programs in Indonesia, Mali and Guatemala. I am reaching out to popular bloggers in the online crafts community who might be interested in participating in this effort by making a cap, sending a letter to congress or donating to our cause. Bloggers are our best allies in helping to spread the word about the Caps for Good initiative and raising awareness on the issues that new moms and babies face around the world.

You can visit http://www.GoodGoes.org/caps to learn more about this exciting initiative and download a free action kit with patterns and other ways to get involved. We hope you will consider participating in this initiative and sharing the information with your readers.

If you have any questions or would like more information about Caps for Good, feel free to contact me at ascarella@savechildren.org

    Thanks,

    Andrew Scarella
